Abiding in Him

It's so important for us to abide in Jesus. John 15 describes what it is like to be vitally connected to Jesus. Everything He is is what we need to be. Being connected to Him allows His like to flow into and thru us.
Duration:59 mins 14 secs

Abiding in Him.

John 15 : 1

I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.”

Jesus was, is and always will be the true vine.  There is nothing else worth being connected to in life apart from Jesus.  He’s everything you need.  We are connected to Jesus and The Father is the one who looks after us and makes sure everything is going OK.

V 2   “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Every branch not bearing fruit He lifts up, gives it some extra TLC so that it might bear good fruit.  The correction He brings to the fruit bearer is only ever good.  He corrects us thru His Word.  Never sickness, poverty, nor accidents.  It’s always about what’s best for us, so we may bring forth more fruit.

Gal 5 : 22_23  But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Fruit of our human spirit.

V3    “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.”

Clean thru the Word.  This Word, when believed and acted upon has the ability to separate us and cleanse us.  Separate us from the thoughts, ways and actions of the world.  We are supposed to be different to the world. We are supposed to be living a lifestyle that is desirous for others.  Experiencing the goodness and favour of God everyday in everyway.

John 17 : 17    “Sanctify them by your truth, Your Word is truth.”  Set them apart.

V 4_5        “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.   5  I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing”

Abide – to live in, stay connected to. Jesus is very clear in what He is saying.  If we don’t live in Him, if we don’t stay connected to Him, we can not bear fruit, fruit that pleases Him. Branches can not bear fruit or carry on any life giving ability cut off from Jesus.  He said, “In Him is life.”  So apart from Him is no life.  Carrying life is bearing fruit.  We are called to carry health for sickness, wealth for poverty, joy for sadness, life for death.

Isaiah 40 : 28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But thosewho wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

V 5  If we stay in Him we will bring forth much fruit.  It will not be maybe, no, we will.  Fruit is produced in seasons and times.  Avocados – 7 years, other fruit, a year or two.  Some is summer, some is winter.  But produce fruit, we must.

Rom 7 : 4         Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.”

Col 1 : 10“that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”  It’s only by being connected to Jesus, allowing His life, His thoughts, His ways, His Words to flow thru us.  Life is all about Him.  Without Him we can do nothing.

WE WILL NOT BE REWARDED FOR THE THINGS WE DO FOR GOD, BUT FOR THE THINGS WE ALLOW HIM TO DO THRU US.

V6             If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.       Realistically talking about those who will not stay connected to Jesus as Savior.  They choose their end result.  Phillips Trans -   The man who does not share my life is like a branch that is broken off and withers away. He becomes just like the dry sticks that men pick up and use for the firewood.

V7             If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.       If, it is always our choice whether we stay connected to the very source of life Himself. We all want to experience the best life and the best life is truly found in and thru Jesus Christ.

John 10 : 10  AMP  The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”

AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU.  This is where we said Jesus and His Word are one.  This Word of God is to live in us, To remain in a place, tarry, not to depart, to continue to be present, to be held, to remain as one, not to be different.  To make its home in us.  Gods backs His Word, He watches over His Word to perform it, Its His Word that shall never pass away.  It’s His Word that beats the devil up off your life.  If this Word lives in us, THEN, ask what you desire and it shall be done.   Your desires will be His desires for you.  This Word, alive and living in you forms the desires of God in you.  His desires are the best desires you can ever have. Are you really allowing Jesus to abide in you, you abiding in Him and His Word abiding in you?  Are we really allowing Him to form our desires for life? It shall be done, not maybe.  The strongest word is used here, it shall be done. PROMISE, COMMAND OR DETERMINATION. Shall BE and it was.

V8             By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.           God takes pleasure in our desires being fulfilled. He enjoys seeing the blessing in us because of our abiding in Christ and His Word bearing fruit.  Much fruit.   Be His disciple.   A learner; a scholar; one who receives or professes to receive instruction from another.
