Ps Shayne continues the 3rd message of what is God's normal? There is a dilemma going on in the Body of Christ today. A dilemma of what to believe. What is God's normal? In every area of life there is a distinct choice to make in what we believe. What you believe is what influences your life. We believe and conform to God’s standard or we believe and conform to what the world says. Experiences, circumstances, friends, family, all have an effect on our lives.
Duration:56 mins 33 secs
  1. V1  And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,       Your spirit was made alive toWe were dead, not physically but spiritually to God.
  1. V2  in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,”        We all lived this way before we were born again. MSG“You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live.”
  1. V3  among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”    We were all led around by the desires and lust of theMSG“We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, all of us in the same boat.”
  1. V4  “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,”      BUTAlways changes the direction of a thought.   This is what you were like, but you’re not like that anymore because BUT GOD.
  1. V5        “even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”    This grace has been available for any man who will receive, even while they were dead inBy grace we are saved.” It has to be understood by revelation in the depth of our being.  This truth has got to get down inside us, past the unbelief, past the disillusionment,  past the insecurities and take root down in our inner most being.  Out of that understanding of love comes our confidence and security in God.  Grace to live, mercy to continue, faith to receive.

V 6       “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”

Because of this grace we have been raised up TOGETHER, not separate from Christ but together with Him.

Why would God do this for us?  So we can have a whole new perspective on life.  Things looked vastly different from a high position than they do from a low position.  We are lifted up.  Why do some think they have to suffer the same things as Jesus did?  He suffered thru them so we didn’t have to.

He became sin so we could be free.

He became sick so we could be healed.

He became rejected so we could become accepted.

He became poor so we could be rich.

He became isolated so we could be in a family.

There was this grace filled, mercy filled, love filled exchange that lifted us out of the miry clay into heavenly realms.

NEW MSG

V 7       “That in the ages to come He might show us the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.”

We are in those ages to come right now. He might show (to us) the exceeding; HYPERBALLO – to throw over or beyond anything, to surpass, to excel; riches – PLOUTOS – abundance of external possessions, fullness, when one is enriched.

God is not against us having things, He is against things having us.  This is toward us in Christ Jesus.  We are not a people looking for things outside of Jesus.  All our longing and desires are to be in Him.

Grace in His KINDNESS toward us.  Kindness – Hased Agape/loving kindness.

Eph 2 : 8_10

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

By grace you have been saved.  SALVATION – SOZO :- to rescue from danger or destruction, heal, restore, make well, to do well.  It covers every area of our lives, spirit, soul and physical.  Through faith, not by what we feel but what we believe.  Not of ourselves.  Our justification does not come because of our good actions.

  1.  Not ofGrace takes away the concept of works.  We don’t have to work to get our salvation.  If it was then we could boast in what we have done.  Our boasting must be in Jesus and what He has done.  He went to the cross, He paid the price, all we need to do is to accept it.  Law demands we try to live a certain way, grace supplies the way to live.

GRACE MAKES – FAITH TAKES.

Romans 4 : 4_5           Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.  5  But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness

We are His, not our workmanship.  As we yield to Him He is able to continue a work in us.    Phil 2 : 13. “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”  It’s not about what we want, life really has to be about what Jesus wants for us.  Life is always so much better for us when we find and yield to the will of God.  We are created for good works.  These works are works of faith, working at believing God.  Staying in faith and allowing God to work thru us.  God has prepared a plan for us to walk in.   Jer 29 : 11          For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God is wanting to do something profound in and thru our lives, remember where you’ve come from, Gentiles in the flesh, those who have no covenant relationship with God, but now you are in covenant relationship with God thru the blood of Jesus.

V 12           Back there without Christ we were.

Aliens – shut out from fellowship and intimacy.

Strangers – without a share, no knowledge.

No promise

No hope

No God

BUT NOW -     Everything changes.  Those in Christ Jesus are brought near/into the family by the blood of Jesus.  The shed blood of Jesus makes all the difference.  Provides mercy, forgiveness, acceptance.

Heb 9 : 11_15         But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12  Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13  For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14  how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15  And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

This blood can do what nothing else can.  Bring us into right relationship with God.
