There is a dilemma going on in the Body of Christ today. A dilemma of what to believe. What is God's normal? In every area of life there is a distinct choice to make in what we believe. What you believe is what influences your life. We believe and conform to God’s standard or we believe and conform to what the world says. Experiences, circumstances, friends, family, all have an effect on our lives.

God’s normal vs the world’s normal.

NORMAL = Conforming to a standard.

We can conform to a standard that has had an impact on our life and yet that normal may not be God’s normal for us.

Romans 12 : 2

  1. NKJV        And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

CONFORMED = To conform one’s mind and character to another’s pattern, made to resemble, made agreeable to, reduced to a likeness.

TRANSFORMED = Changed in form or appearance, metamorphosed (butterfly), changed into something totally different.

RENEWING OF YOUR MIND = Everything we need comes out of a thought.

  1. , but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
  2. MSG         Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
  3. AMP                  Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
  4. NIV            Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S BIBLE            Do not be shaped by this world. Instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you. And you will be able to know what is good and pleasing to God and what is perfect.

  1. ASV          And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

What is God’s original normal for man?

Gen 1 : 26_28          Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”   God hasn’t changed His normal for man.   BLESSED = empowered to prosper.  Prosper does not mean money but includes it.  Prosper = to come up to a higher level, to increase, to succeed.

V 28          God said 5 things that were normal for man.

1/  Fruitful,  2/    Multiply,  3/  Fill/resupply the earth,  4/  Subdue,  5/  Dominion.

NLT says for subdue to “REIGN”  God’s normal for us is to reign in life.  REIGN = possess or exercise royal authority, exercise influence as a king or emperor.  Jesus is “King of kings.”

Romans 5 : 17                 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

Reign in (this) life.  God’s normal is for us to be reigning over the circumstances of life.  In every area.  Spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially, socially.  This is what Jesus preached.

Luke 4 : 16 - 21                 “So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:”

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”      “Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.””
